How to choose
Olive oil, tomato or spicy: how to choose your first tin
Olive oil is the reference point, tomato is everyday comfort, piri-piri is for cold beer. A plain guide to your first three tins.
Start with olive oil. It is the cleanest way to taste the fish itself, and it is the version every Portuguese household keeps in the cupboard.
Add a tomato tin next. The sauce is sweeter and softer, and it turns bread and a plate into dinner without any cooking at all.
Keep a spicy tin for last. Piri-piri builds slowly, so open it when you have cold beer or chilled white wine nearby.
